When it comes to day to day life of everyone, there is always that one thing can annoy the average person. Lower back pain that can be caused from the lower back becoming stiff. By stretching everyday when you wake up and then again before you go to bed can reduce the tension that your back may have against your spine and your lower back muscles that can be important in your life. Too many times have individuals not stretched enough before performing strenuous moves that could harm your back. Not only can that harm your back, but also performing the same movements daily that could put a lot of wear and tear on an individuals lower back. Not only are you harming your back, but you are also compressing those nerves that are in your back as well. because of lower back pain, people will start to feel nerve pain because their back is being consistently pressed upon. The most common cause for back pain is sitting for to long. According to an article that I found, "Why Does My Lower Back Hurt When I Sit and How Can I Relieve the Pain?" by William Morrison, M.D. It states that when sitting too long, it can start to irritate the nerves that are around your lower back and on your glutes. The most common nerve that can be found with sitting is the sciatica nerve that is put into a state of numbness. By making it numb that nerve will come back and shoot pain through the legs and around the area causing the individual a lot of discomfort and sometimes thrashing pain. Not only does that happen when you are sitting but the other nerves that come with the lower back area can be hurt and irritated by consistent weight being put onto it. For example, with police officers there is an extreme amount of number of police officers that have chronic back pain from their duty belts. The duty belts that police officers have to wear can weight from 8 to 14 pounds. This is due to the equipment that they have to carry. With a duty belt, officers are not only carrying their radio, cuffs, gun, pepper spray, taser, knife, safety pack, glove pouch, and numerous of other things, but they also have to carry their weight. According to the article, "Police officers and Back Pain" by Sarah Butler, 62% of police officers experience back pain. The most common explanation for these back pains are constant sitting, constant standing, late nights working where their bodies don't get enough sleep, and their duty belts. With that being said, police officers also have to wear there safety vests, which can be pretty heavy after a long shift.  With all of that being said, stretching your lower back everyday can relieve those joints and help prevent back pain in the future. The article from Sarah Butler states that chiropractics can help with back pain and can prolong the strength of your back. Not only will that help, but if you start this practice everyday and add some sit ups, your back will start to grow in strength and then back pain will be non-existent.
