Being the Most Human
Among the nations law enforcement, the number of police officers that have committed suicide has gone up. The stress of the job and sometimes family life has started to take over these humans in blue. The job has become more and more stressful with how many individuals have gone through the daily life of a police officer. Lets take this picture for a moment and think on everything that has been said. The question that I pose is why when an individual looks at themselves in the mirror, that they find an enemy that becomes a threat? This is a question that has been posed to humans for centuries. What makes an individual turn to themselves and think of themselves as the problem. That is what this picture is saying to me. It is saying that this human who just so happens to be a police officer, looks at himself in the mirror and sees a threat, an enemy, a force that needs to be stopped like it was any other day in his job. The stress and life around everyone can lead a person to think of themselves as the problem in their life or the threat. To be able to look past that and think better of themselves is the bigger obstacle than having any of these problems. This was brought to my attention because it perfectly describes how myself and others have looked into the mirror and thought; what if I am the target, the threat, the enemy of my life. I connect with this because when the overwhelming criticism of life and what our jobs entail get to us; it is up to us to overcome that obstacle. Think of yourself as your story's hero not villain.
